Abstract : This study examines the role of mass media in explaining the contribution and influence of ulama on Islamic economic development in Aceh. Although ulama are often important figures in the social and religious life of Acehnese society, media coverage of their role in the economic sector is still not systematically highlighted. The aim of this study is to analyze how the mass media highlights the role of ulama in advancing Islamic economics and the implications of this coverage for public perception. A qualitative approach was used through analysis of the content of selected print and electronic media in Aceh over the last five years, accompanied by in-depth interviews with media editors and local ulama figures. The results of the study show that the mass media tends to pay attention to political and social issues, while the contributions of ulama in the field of Islamic economics such as productive zakat, sharia cooperatives and halal investment receive less attention. This study suggests that the media expand the reporting narrative to foster collective awareness regarding the potential role of ulama in sharia-based economic development.
